I had a query about Canada's Big Quilt Bee and the sizes of quilts for McDonald House. Here's the
link for all the information at the Canadian Quilters Association: http://www.canadianquilter.com/events/quilt-canada-2017-quilting-bee.php and I've attached the PDF for making slab quilts.
Here's the link for making the blocks in case you want to share it with other quilters: http://www.canadianquilter.com/pdf/quilt-canada-2017/Quilting-Bee-How-to-make-a-block.pdf.
The PDF contains two quilt sizes and Canada's Big Quilt Bee will accept either size for the McDonald House quilts.

OWQS Member Bea Tilsley-Cunningham's daughter, Susan Tilsley - Manley, passed away on Saturday after a courageous struggle with a brain tumour. She leaves behind her husband and two young children.
Susan was an accomplished art quilter. Many of you will remember her from one of our quarterly
meetings in Margaree Valley a couple of years ago. She also gave workshops to our guild and at
number of retreats where you may have been her student.
A shining start has gone ahead to light our way. Please remember Bea and her family at this difficult time.

Theresa Benteau MacLean, had a wonderful opportunity to be a block tester for Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine, Volume 11. As a result she also had the opportunity to create a quilt for the magazine from the blocks she had tested. It is featured on the last page of the magazine, which is on store shelves this week. It was a very rewarding challenge. She is a member of Baddeck Quilters Guild and Ocean Waves Quilt Society and she has recently moved to Cape Breton from Newfoundland.

The Ocean Waves Quilters have embarked on a new and exciting project for their quilts.
The Tea Thyme Quilters at St. Mark’s set up their sewing machines, & tools on Wednesday, May 15th to begin a new project: to sew a Touch Quilt for each person in the Nursing Home suffering from Alzheimer’s. The girls were able to complete 30 Touch Quilts which were blessed by the minister, Nan Corrigan, D.M, at the Sunday morning Service, May 19th. The quilts were made of a variety of fabrics all brought in by the quilters and their friends for the enjoyment and happiness of the patients.
